Difflam has a generic name of Benzydamine, which is also known as Tantum Verde. Benzydamine is also used to for assisting with dental surgery and treating stomatitis and aphthous ulcers. Difflam throat spray is also used for treating pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Difflam does not contain sugar, gluten, and lactose. As a cream, it is applied topically to help with musculoskeletal system disorders like sprains and strains. As a mouth rinse, Difflam is a clear, green solution with a pleasant taste, which should be used every one and a half to three hours. It can be used undiluted. However, if the person experiences a stinging sensation, it can also be diluted with water. Children aged twelve years or under cannot use Difflam.

Difflam oral rinse can also be used as a mouthwash or a gargle. It is an analgesic and has anti-inflammatory properties, and because of this, difflam is used to provide pain relief from inflammatory conditions affecting the mouth and the throat. Difflam does this by stabilising the cellular membrane, preventing prostaglandin synthesis. Aside from this, Difflam spray can be used to relieve dry coughs that are associated with a sore throat. Difflam does this by working on the part of the brain that is the cough centre, helping stop coughing.

Side effects to using Difflam may include oral tissue numbness and the feeling of stinging sensations. The user might also experience itching, skin rashes, swelling and redness of the skin, difficulty breathing and wheezing. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use Difflam, unless required to by a doctor.
