Comvita is a natural health supplement company specialising in producing bee products. The company was originally founded by enthusiasts Claude Stratford and Alan Bougen, who wanted to bring healthy living to everyone they could through the magic of their yellow and black friends.

How are Comvita products beneficial?

Bee products can be helpful in a variety of different ways, but most of them share a singular healing property among them: they are antibacterial.
The New Zealand honey bee, as well as its foreign counterparts, has the ability to create a variety of substances for its hive. For example, propolis is often used as a construction glue for the hive walls themselves, as the substance is both sticky and strong. Thanks to its malleability, bees also frequently use the product to wrap up the corpses of invaders so bacteria doesn't spread before they can remove the carcass.

Manuka honey takes it one step further, however, and also contains another potent chemical called methylglyoxal (MGO). This potent substance has been known to be heat and moisture resistant, unlike hydrogen peroxide, making it a more powerful antibacterial agent.
