Sports medicine is a field of health care that only emerged in the late twentieth century, despite its prevalence in the world of sports. Practitioners of sports medicine are specialists called sports physician, and these physicians have long been in the field, being assigned to sports teams and such. These are sudden, involuntary contractions of the muscles that can cause pain and difficulty in moving. On the other hand, muscle strains happen when the muscle is overstretched or torn because of overuse or improper use. An ankle sprain is the tearing of the ligaments in the ankle. The ACL in ACL tear stands for the anterior cruciate ligament, one of the main ligaments found in the knee, which can tear because of over-stretching.
