A medical plaster is made from a bandage which is then soaked in plaster. This medical plaster is commonly used to support broken bones, done by wrapping the plaster around the damaged limb. A medical plaster should be waterproof and breathable, providing proper air circulation for the skin. It should be flexible, so as not to restrain movement. Moreover, it should provide instant action and protection against dirt and bacteria.

Medical plaster is also available in spray form. However, in this form, a person should be careful not to spray near their eyes and nose. Spray plaster also shouldn't be used for large or infected wounds, or burns. Applying this spray plaster may cause a slight stinging sensation.
