So who in New Zealand should you be trusting with your health and wellbeing products?

About Lifestream International

Lifestream is a New Zealand-based natural health company specialising in not just the distribution and exportation of healthy products, but also the manufacturing as well.

In fact, Lifestream was the first company to bring spirulina to the Australasian market, and it remains one of the best selling product ranges within the company.

How are Lifestream products beneficial?

A modern diet, despite its diversity, can sometimes still not provide enough vitamins and nutrients to our bodies that we need. In addition, as you may well already know, certain food products - particularly heavily processed ones - can have a detrimental effect on our overall wellbeing.

Let's examine spirulina, considering its popularity.

Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that has been used for its supposed health benefits for not just centuries, but has potentially existed in one form or another for billions of years. The substance is known for being incredibly high in a number of vital nutrients and vitamins, including vitamin B complex, vitamin E, manganese, copper, zinc and gamma linolenic acid (GLA - an essential fatty acid).

Numerous studies have been conducted on the algae, trying to prove its benefits.

For example, Medline Plus suggested it can help in a number of areas.

"An early study shows that people with diabetes who take one gram of a blue-green algae product by mouth twice daily for two mouths have lower blood sugar levels," it stated. As well as:
"Taking 1.6 grams of a blue-green algae product by mouth daily for eight weeks lowers anxiety and depression in women with menopause."

Research also suggests it could benefit your immune system, reduce allergy symptoms and work as a protein supplement.

A guide to Lifestream products

Here is a quick overview of some of the products Lifestream offers:

Lifestream Bioactive Spirulina: As we've discussed, spirulina products have a vast range of nutritional benefit. Lifestream Bioactive Spirulina was hand selected among some 35 different varieties of the algae thanks to its higher iron and GLA content.
Lifestream Biogenic Aloe Vera Juice: The other main antioxidant product that Lifestream offers is its Biogenic Aloe Vera Juice. Aloe Vera is another well-known remedy for curing a number of different ailments. In particular, it was noted in the British Journal of General Practice that the substance can help ease irritation in the bowels, as well as decrease symptoms associated with ulcers, a point Mayo Clinic also agrees with. Aloe Vera juice could also benefit your immune system and heart.
Lifestream Chlorella: Much like the environment, our bodies can become polluted as well, potentially leading to fatigue, depression and digestive stress. This is where a product such as Lifestream Chlorella can come in handy. Chlorella is already widely used in Japan, and you can join the craze here too. Chlorella, a microorganism similar to spirulina, supposedly clings to unwanted harsh metals and other substances within our bodies, allowing them to be flushed out.
