From the smallest of supermarkets to the most elaborate of health stores, there is one particular brand you're likely to see across all of them: Blackmores. Blackmores products can be found throughout New Zealand and have a proven track record for quality.

Who are Blackmores?

According to its website, Blackmores is the leading natural health brand in Australia. In fact, in 2014 they were titled as the country's 'Most Trusted Brand' for the sixth year in a row by Reader's Digest.

Not only do they operate in NZ and Australia, however, but also Singapore, China, Korea and other parts of South East Asia. They have achieved such region-wide acclaim thanks to a wealth of knowledge, a range of more than 250 products and lengthy history. In fact, Blackmores was founded more than 80 years ago by naturopath Maurice Blackmore, and has continued to provide high-quality and environmentally friendly products to the world since then.

In addition, Blackmores partners itself with numerous community and environmental groups around the region to ensure their commitment to social responsibility and saving the planet. Such entities include the World Wildlife Fund Sustainable Fish Oils Partnership, as well as their very own Sydney Running Festival - which has raised millions of dollars for charity since it began in 2001.

The benefits of using Blackmores

You're not just saving the planet and your community by supporting Blackmores, however. Combining natural herbal remedies with modern nutritional science, Blackmores supplements are effective at assisting with numerous maladies.

Perhaps the best aspect of Blackmores is its spectacular diversity of natural vitamins. Across their entire product range, they cover anywhere from a regular vitamin C supplement to iron, magnesium and more.

It's important for many to take regular supplements of vitamins because, even despite your best efforts to eat a healthy diet, certain minerals can be lacking in modern food, or not existent at all.

To use an example, the folic acid in a multivitamin supplement can help prevent neural tube defects in newborn infants, according to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Also, "If women take it before they become pregnant, folic acid may also lower the risk of heart disease, colon cancer and breast cancer," states the school's website.

Which Blackmores products are best for you?

With so many choices to select from, there is almost undoubtedly a Blackmores supplement that will be suitable for your individual needs - one of the reasons the brand is so highly regarded.

Here is a quick overview of some of the available products.

Sleeping tablets: Blackmores Executive B Sleep is a natural alternative to regular sleeping tablets that helps you fight insomnia due to stress. The special Sleep Formula contained in this product consists of a variety of carefully selected herbs that have been known to be natural sedatives. This includes hops, lemon balm and passion flower.

Fish oil for kids: Blackmores Kids Fruity Fishies is the easy way to add more omega-3 to your kids' diets, without looks of disgust. Not only are the chewy tablets packed with this beneficial mineral - which promotes better moods, can reduce inflammation and may help with ADHD symptoms - but they are also tasty, so there's no fight to get them down the hatch.

Iron for pregnancy: If you're pregnant and running low on iron, Blackmores Pregnancy Iron tablets may be able to help you. This natural supplement features an iron-only recipe designed specifically for the needs of pregnant women, and has been formulated to contain a lighter form of the nutrient that is less likely to cause nausea.
