Dr Reddy's Omeprazole was the first of Dr Reddy's generic medicines to be launched in New Zealand. It was fully funded on the Pharmaceutical Schedule on 1st October 2007 and received sole supply status on 1 May 2009 (i.e. it is the only omeprazole product fully funded from this date).
Omeprazole Capsules contain omeprazole 20mg or 40mg. Omeprazole Capsules are used to treat and prevent the recurrence of: reflux oesophagitis, acid-related dyspepsia, duodenal (the tube leading out of the stomach) & gastric (stomach) ulcers. Omeprazole Capsules are also used to treat peptic ulcers associated with the use of NSAIDs and with antibiotics to kill Helicobacter pylori (bacteria often found in the stomach of patients with ulcers). Omeprazole Capsules are used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (a rare condition associated with too much acid production). Omeprazole Infusion and Injection are primarily used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for patients with duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer or reflux oesophagitis where oral medication is inappropriate.
