DentaVen? provides patented probiotic support for tooth and gum health. It has a unique formula which features a highly desirable strain of Streptococcus salivarius that is able to colonize and beneficially reside in the mouth.
Dental plaque is a mixture of bacteria, epithelial cells, leukocytes, macrophages and other oral exudates that forms on the surface of unclean teeth. The bacteria produce highly branched polysaccharides which together with micro-organisms from the oral cavity form an adhesive matrix for the continued proliferation of plaque. Left untreated, the formation of dental plaque will eventually lead to dental caries, gingival inflammation, periodontal disease, and eventually tooth loss. As plaque continues to accumulate, rock-hard white or yellowish deposits arise. These deposits are called calcified plaque, calculus or tartar, and are formed in the saliva from plaque and minerals, in particular calcium.
Tooth symptoms can often be caused by an infection deep in the tooth (not always visible on the surface of the tooth), root resorption (where the root of the tooth dies), gum infection (bleeding gums almost always mean infection) and residual infection froman osteonecrotic infection (i.e. where an infected tooth was extracted but all the infection in the gum area was not eliminated) and micro-cracks in plastic tooth fillings which have let infection enter under the filling (only detectable by caries dye staining by a dentist).
A caries detector dye is a safe dye that temporarily stains the teeth to show open margins or even micro-fractures in the teeth. Both open margins and micro-fractures are potential tooth killers since they allow bacteria to infect the tooth structure, burrowing their way to the heart of your tooths pulp chamber (where the nerve is housed). The dye must be used, especially if teeth are filled with composite restorations, which are typically so soft that they crack easily.
Key underlying causes of infection in teeth can stem from heavy metal toxicity (from silver fillings or other toxic dental metals) that gradually deposit toxic heavy metal ions in the dentin of the tooth and in the surrounding gum tissue, initiating or perpetuating chronic infection, pain and many other symptoms. Particularly toxic dental materials are most composites (plastic-like, white-colored fillings).
