It is strongly advised to get emergency medical treatment following the use of this adrenaline injection. Epipen Adult Adrenaline Injection 300mcg is available with a needle free, medication free trainer that guides and helps you to self administer. Be sure to follow instructions accordingly in the use of the auto injector.

What is Anaphylaxis?

Anaphylaxis refers to life threatening or fatal allergic reactions due to an exposure to certain types of allergens, be it from food allergies (peanuts), insect bites or stings (bees), reaction to medication (penicillin) or other triggers. Once the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis show, the epinephrine auto injection treatment helps you act fast and deal with it.

Symptoms of anaphylaxis typically include appearance of rash or hives, flushing, itchiness and swelling of the lips or tongue. The affected person may also experience tightness in the chest or throat, resulting to difficulty in breathing. Chest pain, headaches, dizziness and low blood pressure levels may also result.

Mechanism of Action:

Epipen Adult Adrenaline Injection 300mcg must be injected into the outer thighs as it contains a single dosage of epinephrine. NEVER inject into the vein, buttock, hands, feet, fingers or toes.

Epinephrine is known for its pharmacological effects on the treatment of anaphylaxis. Epinephrine makes up about 80% of catecholamines present in the adrenal medulla. In the case of life threatening situations, the medulla releases epinephrine and it innervates structures in different parts of the body, especially the sympathetic system or the ‘fight or flight’ response.

Accidental injection into the hands or feet may result in loss of blood flow to the affected area and should be avoided. If there is an accidental injection into these areas, emergency treatment should be sought.
