Research shows that α-hederin, a key compound in ivy leaf extract, supports the relaxation of the bronchial muscles opening airways to make breathing easier. It also supports the release of surfactant, a lubricating substance which keeps the airways moist, easing dryness, and helps to thin mucus so it can be cleared more easily.
Hederacoside C (HDC) is the main component of English ivy leaf. This supports against bacteria and helps break down mucus and relax the airways.
