Premier Glutathione - Master Antioxidant that Promotes Liver & Immune Support
Glutathione, also known as Gamma-glutamylcysteinylglycine and GSH, is a very small molecule that's produced by the body and found in every cell. It is a naturally occurring substance that acts as an antioxidant, an immune system booster, and detoxifier. Some researchers claim that it is the most important antioxidant because it is within the cell, and it is in prime position to neutralize free radicals. It also has widespread health benefits because it can be found in all types of cells, including the cells of the immune system. It also regulates the actions of vitamins C and E within the body.
Glutathione and the Treatment of Chronic Disease
One of the most important functions of glutathione is that it promotes efficient phase I and II liver detoxification, enabling removal of toxins, chemicals, drugs and other pollutants from the body. For this reason researchers suspect, glutathione has been an extremely effective supplement for those with chronic illness. "If you look in a hospital situation at people who have cancer, AIDS, or other very serious disease, almost invariably they are depleted in glutathione," says Jeremy Appleton, ND and chairman of the department of nutrition at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. One study conducted on women with ovarian cancer revealed that those who were being treated with chemotherapy and taking glutathione intraveniously, had fewer side effects from the chemo and also had better survival rates than those not taking glutathione.
