Habitrol Patch is a quick solution to quit smoking. With about 52.5 mg nicotine, it is your to-go nicotine stop smoking product. The patch also facilitates release of nicotine through day and night, for 24 hour quitting smoking.
Habitrol Patch is now accessible in three varying strengths – 7 mg, 14 mg, and 21 mg and three easy steps. You simply have to apply it on and nicotine is absorbed through your skin. By using the patch, you save yourself the risk of harmful toxin inhalation. Plus, you’ll remain free of second-hand smoke smell!
Habitrol patches are part of a carefully structured Habitrol support program including materials designed to provide you with information to help you stop smoking (see leaflet inside carton). Habitrol patches, being a step-down approach will reduce your nicotine dose gradually, rather than stopping suddenly. The program consists of 3 steps which you will need to follow. Each step has a specifically designed Habitrol patch that supplies your body with nicotine over a 24 hour period. The dose of nicotine delivered through the patch decreases as you go from Habitrol Step 1 through to Habitrol Step 3. Completing the entire program will increase your chance of quitting successfully. The step at which you start the program will depend on how many cigarettes you smoke each day. Each Habitrol patch can be worn for 24 hours so it works night and day.
For those smoking more than 20 cigarettes a day it is recommended that treatment be started with HABITROL Step 1 Patch. Those smoking less than 20 cigarettes a day should start with HABITROL Step 2.
Patients starting on HABITROL Step 1 should use this strength for 3 to 4 weeks, before moving onto Step 2 for 3 to 4 weeks, and finally Step 3 for 3 to 4 weeks.
Patients starting on HABITROL Step 2 may switch to Step 3 after 3 to 4 weeks, or continue to use Step 2 for 6 to 8 weeks before moving onto Step 3 for 3 to 4 weeks.
How quickly the patient moves through the program will vary depending on individual response, and maintaining or increasing the dose may be necessary if abstinence is not achieved or if withdrawal symptoms are experienced.
The treatment duration is about 3 months but may vary as a function of individual response. Intermittent dosing products (such as HABITROL Chewing Gum) may be used beyond 3 months if necessary, but those using NRT for more than 9 months should seek advice from a healthcare professional.
