Viraban is for the treatment and prevention of cold sores. The cream contains the unique antiviral agent Acyclovir, which prevents the cold sore virus from replicating. Viraban has been prescribed for over 10 years to more that 22 million patients around the world. This treatment is available to cold sore sufferers without a prescription, and is still one of the best cold sore treatments available.Things that can activate the virus include:

    • Cold and Flu
    • Menstruation
    • Emotional upset and stress
    • Bright sunlight
    • Stomach upset
    • Fatigue
    • Physical injury
    • Feeling 'run down'

Viraban should be applied five times daily at approximately four hourly intervals, omitting the night time applications. It is important to start treatment as early as possible after the start of an infection. Treatment should be continued for 5 days. See a doctor if symptoms persist after 10 days.Always wash hands before and after use to prevent re-infection.
