Description

PAXLOVID is a medicine that has two different tablets; one containing the active ingredient, nirmatrelvir and the other containing the active ingredient, ritonavir. PAXLOVID is used to treat COVID-19 in adults who are at increased risk of progression to hospitalisation or death.

PAXLOVID can now be purchased from New Zealand pharmacies under private supply. This provides a COVID-19 treatment option for the following groups of people, where clinically appropriate*:

  • Kiwis who do not meet Pharmac's access criteria but may still benefit from treatment
  • Kiwis planning to travel overseas
  • Non-residents, including people travelling to New Zealand
  • Others who wish to purchase PAXLOVID in advance as a precautionary measure

*PAXLOVID is indicated for the treatment of COVID-19 in adults 18 years of age and older, who do not require supplemental oxygen due to COVID-19 and are at increased risk of progression to hospitalisation or death.

Ingredients

Each Nirmatrelvir tablet contains:

Nirmatrelvir 150mg

Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, Lactose monohydrate, Croscarmellose sodium, Colloidal anhydrous silica, Sodium stearylfumarate, Opadry Complete Film Coating System 05B140011 Pink.

Each Ritonavir tablet contains:

Ritonavir 100mg

Excipients: Copovidone, Calcium hydrogen phosphate, Sorbitan monolaurate, Colloidal anhydrous silica, Sodium stearylfumarate, Hypromellose, Titanium dioxide, Macrogol 400, Hyprolose, Purified talc, Macrogol 3350, Colloidal anhydrous silica, Polysorbate 80.
