    Description

    MoviPrep

A successful colonoscopy starts with a complete colonoscopy prepColonoscopy is the best available test for detecting and preventing colon cancer, but a successful colonoscopy requires a complete colonoscopy prep. Chances are you've heard that preparing for a colonoscopy is no picnic. It's true. The colonoscopy prep process may not be the most glamorous activity, but it is crucial to this potentially lifesaving procedure. That's because an effective colonoscopy prep allows your doctor to examine the entire lining of your colon for abnormal growths, which may grow into cancer if they are not detected and removed.

MoviPrep is a low-volume colonoscopy prep that is proven to provide a clear view of the entire colon, allowing your doctor to detect abnormal growths.1 That's one reason why MoviPrep has been prescribed over 8 million times since 2006.2

Your helpful guide for the colonoscopy prep process

Rest assured, getting a colonoscopy is time well spent toward living a healthier lifestyle. To help make the process more tolerable, we created this Web site to help guide you through the weeks and days leading up to your colonoscopy. Within the site, you will find helpful tools, such as the My MoviMent Prep Kit and a sample calendar for the time leading up to your colonoscopy . You can also read about others' experiences and learn more about the colonoscopy prep, colonoscopy, and colon cancer.

MOVIPREP is indicated for cleansing of the colon as a preparation for colonoscopy in adults 18 years of age or older. MoviPrep has proven 89% excellent or good cleansing when used as a split dose—efficacy that has been proven in clinical trials.2

MOVIPREP is a well-tolerated, low-volume polyethylene glycol (PEG) bowel prep. MOVIPREP has been proven more tolerable than 4-L preparations, with less nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.2
    Indication for MOVIPREP

MOVIPREP® (PEG-3350, sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid for oral solution) is an osmotic laxative indicated for cleansing of the colon as a preparation for colonoscopy in adults 18 years of age or older.

    Important Safety Information about MOVIPREP

Do not take MOVIPREP® (PEG-3350, sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid for oral solution) if you have a gastrointestinal (GI) obstruction (a blockage in your bowel), bowel perforation (an opening in the wall of your stomach or intestine), gastric retention (problems with food and fluid emptying from your stomach), ileus (bowel muscle unable to move stomach contents), toxic colitis (damage to the thickness of the intestinal wall) or toxic megacolon (an extremely dilated or distended colon with fever and/or abdominal pain at times), or if you have a known allergy to MOVIPREP or any of its components.

It is important to drink sufficient liquids before, during, and after the use of MOVIPREP. Liquid and blood salt changes can lead to serious side effects including abnormal heartbeats, seizures, and kidney problems. Talk to your doctor before taking MOVIPREP if you take any medications that increase the risk of blood salt abnormalities or if you have known or suspected low blood salt (sodium) level (hyponatremia).

If you have kidney problems or if you take medication that affects kidney function, talk to your doctor before taking MOVIPREP.

If you have suspected bowel blockage or a suspected opening in the wall of your stomach or intestine, talk to your doctor before taking MOVIPREP.

Talk to your doctor before taking MOVIPREP if you have problems swallowing, if you have gastric reflux, or if you are predisposed to aspiration.

If you have a condition that destroys red blood cells called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, talk to your doctor before taking MOVIPREP.

Please be advised that MOVIPREP contains 131 mg of phenylalanine per treatment.

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking MOVIPREP.

    Other Comments

Administration advice: Each bottle needs to be diluted in water before ingestion; direct ingestion of the undiluted solution may increase the risk of nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. Oral medications may not be absorbed properly if they are taken within one hour of starting each dose. Solid food should not be given within 2 hours of administration of the solution. The addition of sweeteners or other additives to the solution may alter the osmolality or cause the formation of explosive gas.

Reconstitution/preparation techniques: Refer to the manufacturer's product information.

General: Administration of the PEG-ELS is best accomplished when given to a patient capable of sitting on a commode. When given to an unconscious patient, or one that is unable to sit on a commode, a rectal tube may be placed to drain the effluent.

Patient advice: Consume only clear liquids (no solid food or milk). Do not eat or drink anything red or purple. Do not to take other laxatives. Avoid alcohol on the day before colonoscopy until after completion of the colonoscopy. Stay adequately hydrated before, during, and after treatment.
