Dosage
Adults: 2 Tablets as required, after meals and half an hour before going to bed at night, up to 4 times daily. A dose may be increased to a maximum of 4 tabs if required.
Children 6 - 12 years: 1-2 tablets as required, to be taken after meals and a half hour before bed at night, up to four times a day.
Tablets should be thoroughly chewed and swallowed when they become sticky.
This may be followed by a drink of water, if desired.
Chewing may be helped if the tablets are first broken and taken a little at a time.
It is recommended that you do not immediately lie down or go to bed after taking the tablets.
Ingredients
Gaviscon tablets contain sodium and calcium, mannitol and aspartame. The maximum total daily intake (16 tablets) for adults contain 984mg of sodium, 1.28g of calcium carbonate and 9.1g og mannitol.
Purpose/Usage
Helps relieve the burning pain of heartburn and the discomfort of indigestion
Help protect inflamed oesophageal tissue
Help prevent further inflammation
Gaviscon relieves the pain and discomfort of heartburn & indigestion by forming a barrier to reflux
The alginate ?raft? helps to keep the stomach contents in place thereby reducing the risk of them irritating the delicate lining of the oesophagus
Precautions
Do not use in premature infants or in situations where excessive water loss may occur (vomiting or diarrhoea).
Use with caution in liver, heart or kidney failure.
