Purpose/Usage
Apo-Loratadine relieves the symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (hayfever), such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose and burning or itchy eyes.
Apo-Loratadine may also be used to relieve the symptoms associated with the skin condition called urticaria (hives); these symptoms include: itching, redness and lumps on the skin.
Apo-Loratadine belongs to a class of medicines called antihistamines. Antihistamines help reduce the allergic symptoms by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body in response to foreign substances to which the body is allergic.
Precautions
Apo-Loratadine tablets should not be taken by children under 2 years of age.
Do not use this medicine for any purpose other than specified on the pack, unless under the instruction of a doctor or pharmacist.
If you are to have any skin tests, discontinue use of Apo-Loratadine 48 hours prior to the tests as antihistamine may interfere with the results.
Do not give Apo-Loratadine to anyone else, even if their symptoms are similar to yours.
Adverse Effects
Apo-Loratadine helps most people with allergies. Most people taking Apo-Loratadine experience no side effects. If they occur they are likely to be minor and temporary. In very rare cases tiredness, headache, upset stomach or rash have been reported. Apo-Loratidine is unlikely to make you drowsy but if it does make sure you do not drive or work with machinery.
Medicines have benefits and some may have risks. Always read the label
carefully and use strictly as directed. If symptoms continue or you have
side effects consult your pharmacist or doctor immediately.
