Dosage
Follow the directions given to you by your doctor or pharmacist. Gabapentin can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. It is very important to take this medicine regularly the same time each day. Do not take this medicine within 2 hours of taking aluminum or magnesium antacids.
Purpose/Usage
Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant used to treat seizures. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine for other conditions as well, such as chronic pain or diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage).
Precautions
Do NOT stop taking this medicine without consulting with your doctor.
Do NOT drive a motor vehicle or perform other dangerous tasks until you know how this medicine will affect you.
This medicine will add to the drowsy effects caused by alcohol and other depressants.
Talk to your doctor when taking any new prescription or over-the-counter medicine.
