Purpose/Usage
As the name suggests, Phyto-PMS has been formulated specifically for the regulation of the menstrual cycle. For several thousand years, Dong Quai has been cultivated for medicinal use in the treatment of a wide variety of female disorders. High concentrations of standardised Dong Quai (1600mg), supplies active constituents that assist in hormonal balance.
Dong Quai has proven effective in the treatment of pre-menstrual symptoms, disorders of the menstrual cycle and menopause. Vitex Agnus-Castus, or Chaste tree, is unique in its action, working via the pituitary gland to regulate female reproductive hormones. It has been postulated that extracts of Vitex increase luteinizing hormone production and mildly inhibit the release of follicle stimulating hormone, thereby shifting the ratio of hormones to favour progesterone. Vitex is present in a significant 500mg standardised dose and can aid menstrual problems resulting from corpus luteum deficiency, including spasmodic dysmenorrhea and PMS.
Viburnum opulus or Crampbark is used primarily as a smooth muscle relaxant. It is beneficial in all cases where muscular tension is present and is often an adjunct to treating the underlying cause. Its active constituents include viburnin to stop muscle spasms, valerianic acid giving a sedative action and salicosides that have anti-inflammatory properties helping resolve inflammation and the need for muscular spasm. Crampbark has been added to this formula to ease the pain of menstrual cramping associated with PMS. Phyto-PMS is a dynamic combination designed to alleviate many of the symptoms experienced both before and during menstruation.
Phyto-PMS can be used effectively for disorders of the menstrual cycle. Conditions include lack of menstruation (Amenorrhoea) without the likelihood of pregnancy, irregular menstruation (Metrorrhagia), painful and/or heavy periods (dysmenorrhoea and menorrhagia).
This formula may also benefit some women experiencing infertility by helping to balance hormone flow.
